Supporting Young People & Families Through Difficult Times
Adolescence is one of the most significant and challenging periods of development. At Mellow Vibes Psychology, we provide a safe and supportive space for adolescents and families to navigate difficulties together.
We work with young people aged 12 and above, as well as the families and caregivers who support them. Our approach is warm, evidence-based, and tailored to each young person's unique circumstances.
Adolescent Therapy
We work with young people on a range of presentations including:
- Anxiety and school refusal
- Depression and low mood
- Emotional and behavioural difficulties
- Social difficulties and peer relationships
- Family conflict
- Identity and self-esteem
- Trauma and adverse childhood experiences
- Stress and academic pressure
- Grief and loss
Family Therapy & Parent Consultation
Family therapy helps parents and caregivers better understand and support their young person, while also improving family communication and relationships. We work collaboratively with families to create a consistent, nurturing environment that supports the young person's growth.
Medicare Rebates for Parents
Medicare allows up to two rebated sessions per calendar year for parent consultations (without the child present) under a child's Mental Health Care Plan. Speak with your GP to arrange this as part of your child's plan.
Our Approach
Sessions for adolescents are 60 minutes and are conducted in a relaxed, non-clinical environment designed to feel approachable for young people. We use evidence-based approaches including ACT, CBT, and ISTDP, adapted appropriately for developmental stage and individual need.
Parents and caregivers are involved in the therapeutic process in a way that respects the young person's confidentiality and developmental need for autonomy.
